History
Established since 1919 EST.
The Music Inn was originally known as "SANDERS-PAPWORTH ." It was opened in 1919 by the papworth family and it was located in here in the same position on Alfreton Road, a small store front offering restrings to Uke’s and Banjos, Mr Papworth was a skilled Uklele Banjo player and his playing was often heard on the BBC Radio. Business grew and instruments were added for sale.
In the 1970s the name changed to "Music Inn", where it became a Vinyl Record and Musical Instrument shop. Owned by the current family and the Rose Family who married into the Papworths line. Business continued to grow and after many additions and lack of space for both businesses to run, Mr Rose set up down in West-end arcade in Nottingham offering Jazz Records and Tapes, The Music Inn grew quickly, added a new store and expanded business into next door. The new store was equipped with all the latest technology including all the top brands and great showrooms.
In the early 1990s the Music Inn, again expanded building an extension to the rear doubling in size offering a huge amount of new and used instruments and added repairs in house.
In 1997 sadly the store owner Tom suddenly passed away, Music Inn, was taken over by his wife who continued to run the shop and now the current owner Beverley still running it to date with her son Daniel who joined the team, where they continue the legacy of The Music Inn.
The Music Inn had a radical face lift 8 residential flats added above.
In early the early 2000’s the coin centre next door came up for sale. The Music Inn again grew one unit more, added 3 more Flats, 2x show rooms and extra storage below. Opened by Jim Marshall OBE (Founder of Marshall Amps)
